The James E. Cary Cancer Center offers a variety of support groups, designed to help the cancer survivor and their families.
Young Survivors Group
Young Survivors meets 5:30-7 pm on the fourth Tuesday of each month at Fiddlestiks Food and Spirits Co, 8945 Hwy 36, Hannibal MO. The group is facilitated by Shana Greening and Stephanie Ross (both young cancer survivors) and Mary Ripper, the social worker of the James E. Cary Cancer Center. Male Survivors Group
The Men's Support Group meets the fourth Thursday of each month from 8:30-9:30 am at the James E. Cary Cancer Center. All men, including friends and family members of survivors, are welcome and encouraged to attend. Coffee will be provided.
Female Survivors Group
The Women's Support Group meets the second Tuesday of each month from 2:30 to 3:30 pm at the JECCC. All women, including friends and family members of survivors are welcome and encouraged to attend.
Pinkie Pals
If you are dealing with or have dealt with breast cancer, come join Pinkie Pals Breast Cancer Support Group the first Tuesday of each month at First Christian Church, 1101 Broadway, Hannibal MO from 6:30-8 pm. Pinkie Pals was named for the Power of Pink! The pinkie swear we make to one another, the support we give to each other in confidence and the pals we become in the process. Cancer Survivor Education Session
The JECCC offers a monthly education session to cancer survivors, with speakers presenting topics related to living with/beyond cancer. The sessions are held the third Tuesday of each month from Noon to 1 pm at the JECCC. These sessions are open to anyone affected by cancer.
Chemo Teach
Chemo Teach, held weekly on Thursdays at 4 pm, is a program for patients just beginning the journey through chemotherapy. This program provides an opportunity for new chemotherapy patients and their family members to ask questions, meet JECCC staff and better understand the treatment regimen.
